I have a 2000 Dodge Durango 4.7L

I am sure my wires at the ign switch are correct. I had a hard time finding the BLACK/ grey tach wire for my Durango. I went to the Dodge dealer and pointed out the balck/grey tach wire which is at the ign coil. He told me that teh engine light may come on. For what reason i forget I ws to happy to get back to work. I hoked it up and it worked.

Why is the light comming on? What other wire can I use? WOULD THE FUEL INJECTOR WIRE BE JUST AS GOOD.

If all ignition wires are not powered then you can get a check engine light, air bag light, and or an abs light in this vehicle.I would make sure to power the other ignition wires as well as the primary in this vehicle or any vehicle that has multiple ignition wires..

What Brand of r/s are you using.  Did you use GREEN/ red as a second Ign it is a 18 ga wire it will cause a check engine light fi not powered up.

holy sh!t thanks I no what you are talking about and it is not hooked up.

Im going to try that.

You have to realize the color codes are not correct for my car. None of the color codes i have found even mention green and red. this is really messing me up. thanks I really think thats the answer we will find out.

I am still having the same problem.

What are the correct colors for my 2000 Dodge Durango.

I hooked up the green and red wire and it wouldnt even start at all. I tride the red  and green wire and no changes.

For the 2000 I dont think there is GREEN/ red wire can i have a mod check this or something. Its been over a week and my alarm is still not working rite.

this is what I got for colors

BLACK/ orange acc

blue ign

BLACK/ white 2nd acc and I found BLACK/ white as 2nd ign

i hooked up the tach then change it to voltage check all combos i still have the engin light on.

If i resety the battery it will go out. the light wont come on until the second time i remote start it.

i got htis from a dodgetalk.com  guy who said this is correct for my car

"These are the right colors,
Battery red or pink/black
Starter yellow
Ignition dark blue
Second ignition GREEN/ red
Accessory BLACK/ orange
Second accesory BLACK/ white
Goodluck,RICK"

there are two wire that have green and red. there are both small gage one is buy the other wires likk the starter but in a seperate harness. THIS WIRE IS RED.GREEN THOUGH THE RED IS BIGGER THAN THE GREEN.

The other wire which is further back kinda on the steerring column is GREEN/ red and i check the voltage and there is none even when the car is on. I tride this wire and the remote start would turn off the second it tride to turn on so i no its not that one. but the other one is more RED / green is this the correct wire?

I still need help the light never went out. I think the BLACK/ white wire is the second ign wire. I tested it with my multi meter and when the remote start is on there is no current. when you put in the key there is current.  That would make perfect since to conenct the 2nd ign output to this one.

I tested the RED / green wire and it comes out to 4.5 volts.

Im going to get the code checked todday this is really making me upset.

I am having the same problem on a 1995 Chevy Camaro.  Only when I remote start, does the Service Engine Light come on.  I have both Ignition wires (Pink, Brown) hooked up, and it is also reading the tach off the wire from the ignition coil.  Any suggestions for me?  Kevin, I know what you mean.  I'm just an amateur trying to save money like you, and was thinking the same thing as having a pro install it.  It is now done, except for the Service Engine Light.  This won't damage the engine will it?

Use both wires and diode isolate each.  *3 Must use relays and set up for (-) negative trigger. Place a 647 ohm resistor to the lt. GREEN/ orange for arm/lock, and a 1562 ohm resistor on the same wire for disarm/unlock. Unlock requires a double pulse.  *4 Use GREEN/ red for intermittent, purple for low, and RED / gray high.
