I have a friend with an early 90's turbo volvo. I am wondering if there is a way to leave the engine running for a few minutes after the car is turned off (to cool off the turbo). We are going to put a remote / security system in. Please help! E-mail me if you need any other info. Peace!

THERE IS A FEW WAYS BUT THEY SELL TURBO TIMERS BY GREDDY AND OTHERS.MAYBE YOU CAN LOOK INTO A DEAL ON A GREDDY TURBO TIMER OR A I CANT THINK OF THE NAME NOW BUT GREDDY IS GOOD.OR IF THAT REMOTE SECURITY SYSTEM HAS A REMOTE START YOU CAN DO A FEW THINGS WITH THAT BUT IF YU GET A TURBO TIMER YOU WOULD WANT THAT FIRST AS YOU WILL HAVE TO INTERFACE WITH ALARM.

What type of system are you installing ? If you have a stop and go feature that can be set for 3 minutes you can have the driver engage this function after he gets out of the car and 3 minutes later the car will shut off on it's own after you park it. Have the system auto arm afte rthe engine shuts off and your set.

try using an alarm with a "sensor defeat trigger" perhaps, and look into both turbo-timers, and intercoolers

Hey carstereoman,

Seeing that you are installing an alarm/starter, Clifford makes several alarm/remote start combos with turbo timers built in. Allowing you to arm the system with the engine running, lock the doors, ignition and starter kills are activated and when the timer is done it automatically arms the sensors that were bypassed during ignition. What's cool about Clifford are the tons of accessories like window roll-ups, sunroof closures and others that all interconnect simply and intelligently thru a serial data cable (less spaghetti under dash). posted_image

AND VELOCITY I FORGOT ALL ABOUT THAT FEATURE THANKS FOR REMINDING ME NOW ILL FORGET ABOUT THE GREDDY AND REPROGRAM MY VIPER. AGOOD THING TO KEEP IN MIND IS THAT IF YOU DONT HAVE AN ALARM YET WAIT UNTILL YOU GET YOUR TURBO TIMER FIRST SO YOU CAN INSTALL THEM AT THE SAME TIME AS THEY HAVE TO BE INTERFACED TOGETHER. posted_image
