Does anyone know how to take down the under dash panel on a 97 cavalier so I can install an alarm? Thanx.

I havent done a 97 Cavalier yet, but the best way to start is the same way I do every other car that I do for the first time. First look for any exposed screw, nuts or plastic clips, and undo them. Beware, some screws may be hidden by plastic plugs or cover that nedd to be popped off. After you remove all the screws or other fastners that you can find, try gently pulling down on the panel. If you feel resistance, try to see if theres any more screws that you didnt notice. Sometimes these panels are helb by metal clips and you just have to pull the panel off. But be cautious, as you dont wanna break anything by just trying to "rip" it off.

You don't. You can get to all of the wiring that you need pretty much in the kickpanels of the car. The ignition harness is the large loomed harness that is to the left of the column. My recomendation is not to bother taking the underdash off.

yeah, I had already installed the alarm, but i wanted to mount it better high under the dash, I guess i'll just work with what i got and just hide wires better and find a way to mount the brain higher on the underside of dash instead of just having it wire tied to a harness like it is, maybe velcro?

My suggestion would be to take the top of the dash off and put the alarm up there and run the wires down from the top of the dash. It would be pretty stealth and easy to hide the alarms wiring.

The underdash on those vehicles does not come off. Remove the upper dash and mount it from the top as stated above. I hope you know how to take off the upper dash...its kinda tricky the first time. Open the glove box, there are a couple 7mm in there. There is a philips screw in the top center vent, along with a 7mm on the far sides behind the panels that pop off (the doors have to be open to remove the panels). Might be a couple more....I would know where if I saw the vehicle again.
