i recently wired a timed auxiliary (-) output from my alarm to remotely control my headlights on a 1999 civic. relay wired as below:
pin 85 | negative trigger from alarm
pin 86 | 30amp fused 12volts from battery
pin 30 | 30amp fused 12volts from battery
pin 87 | out to headlights (one wire branching out to two, one for left light, one for right)
now, whenever i turn on my headlights, the high beam light indicator in my dash is always on. i pull the switch forward to switch to highbeam, and the high beam indicator light is still on. anyone know what could be wrong?
okay, how would i wire 2 relays together?
i'm trying to draw it out on paper, but can't quite figure it out. do i split the trigger wire from the alarm to both 85 pins on both relays?
the reason your high beam indicator is on is because when you switch to the high beams on hondas, it switches GROUNDS also.
the easiest solution is to install diodes inline to the wires going to the bulbs.
i found out about the ground thing from installing wigwags on my old '92 accord.
it that instance, both lights on each side lit up. i had to use 4 relays and a flashing module.
man, when they were on, those SOB'S were BRIGHT!!

okay, i figured it out. the RED / white wire is actually for the high beams (both left and right). the RED / blue wire is for the low beams (both left and right). since i had both wired to the same relay, this caused a constant connection between the low beams and high beams, which explains why my high beams and the high beam indicator light on my dash always went on when i turned on my headlights.
so now, my remote timed headlight activation works, and only powers on my low beams when i press the button combo on the remote. still using one relay too.
