Method of tapping/splicing into...

What is your preffered method of tapping/splicing into a wire?  I did a search, and read on one subject that "you strip back the insulation of the wire needed to be tapped, then solder it into a "T."  When all is done, place electrical wire over the tap/splice, and tuck it back into where ever."  What if the wire is in a place hard to reach?   I see in the forums that people need wiring diagrams.  How do they go about splicing/tapping in? : maybe some hack'em, twist the wires together and put tape over it, cut the wire and use butt splices, or the solder "T" method.  What do the pros recommend?  I like to good, solid connections I don't have to worry about, not half ass stuff.   Let us beginners/amateurs know the real deal...

Well soldering is generally the best way to tap into wires,...Also a lot of people use those scotch wire splice quick connect things (they are horrible, to me at least)

This is how I do it, some may call it half-ass or whatever but it works and I haven't had a problem yet..

I strip back the insulation, I take a test probe, poke a hole through the exposed target wire, I feed the wire into the hole of the target wire, then I wrap it around as tight as I can, usually 3 or 4 times, then I use some electrical tape, and wrap that as tight around the completed splice as I can, then I take a wire tie, and zip it onto the electrical tape really securely, done. Takes about 1 min per wire.

Well, you will never get a better connection than with soldering, but on the `hard to reach` places I use T-Taps w/ male connectors..they work great (when used with the proper wire gauges) because they snap into place, as long as you dont damage them when your putting them on. But as I said..if you want the best connection..solder them.
