Hello,

I'm new here, but I assume many of you are like me. In the pursuit of perfection you decided doing it yourself was the only way to get exactly what you want.

I have never installed a car alarm but I build computers and have installed car stereos. I have all the the experience needed to make very good connections and have a good digital multimeter.

what I need from you is any & all the advice that your willing to give me. I'm planning to drive from Minnesota to Costa Rica in my 1998 Ford Ranger 4x4 splash 3.0L. this is a very long trip and will take me through areas that will be more dangerous than the ones I encounter here in Minnesota. Carjackings happen here all the time in this part of the world and have happened to people I know who live there. I will be traveling through six different countries and and some very remote areas. I'm told that people will block roads in order get you to stop so they can steal your car, rob and or murder you.

I want to install this system myself so that if needed I can remove it, but a reliable systems so that I'm not stranded there as well. I would like remote start for the cold winters here in the frozen hell hole that I live, but would like to have some sort of hidden from plain view pin device to diable my truck if I was carjacked. I dont want to offer any resistance just give them the car and let them leave. Have the car turn off further down the road.

Any help or ideas? Brands of alarms? wiring diagrams? anything?

we have a two way sysetm with 1/2 mile range that you can use one of the AUX channels to flip over a relay to disable the ignition wire or fuel pump wire. You can also install a toggle switch ( hidden of course ) that if something like this would happen, you could flip this toggle switch and it will disable the fuel pump . The car will stay running with enough gas in the lines and then it will stall after that.

Thanks for the response, I love the the toggle switch idea. I will use that.

Can you tell me what is the difference between all these different brands. Of course I have heard of all the DEI brands, but all these other brands throw me off. Do I really get something more? Am I paying more for the name? what about blackjax would that be good for me? Can I add that to another brand of alarm?
