Hood sensor, please help.

Hello all,

Have a question regarding my Remote Start/Alarm combo. The reputable shop that i had the unit installed by did not install the "instant ground detect" output of my alarm brain. This output when grounded will trigger the alarm. To install this, It is only as easy as diode isolate it and connect it to the hood safe pin for remote start, that's what the install manual says. 

Any reason why they did not install it?

Any body who installed Autopage 850/750LCD - how did you do it?

Is hood sensor (for alarm not for remote start) a standard install?

Meaning it is something that installer must do when they are paid to do the job or something optional?

Diagram below shows what the installer should have done. Instead  he just hooked up the "Remote start" pin from the brain sraigth to hood switch and not using the instant ground detect.

Nope Jeff. It does not trigger the alarm. When the car is armed and I pop the hood open it does not trigger the alarm. As well when i arm it while the hood is open it does not give me error chirp. Unlike the door which when open and i try to arm the system will give me error chirp.

See the hood pin/switch is used to provide remote start safety, when the switch is in pressed position (the hood is closed) there is no ground signal going to "remote start" hood input of the brain. This will allow the car to be started. When the hood is open, ground signal will flow to this input and will deter the remote start to start the engine.

Now the brain has what is called instant ground trigger input. When this input is grounded, it will trigger the alarm.

What they should have done according to the manual is they should use this "instant ground trigger" as the hood trigger sharing the same hood switch with the remote start safety input but diode isolating them.

So if you were to install a cobo package (alarm/remote start) what do you use as the hood trigger for the alarm?

Don't you use the same switch for hood safe checking and hood trigger?
