A dealer refused to do the job because the roof has "tilting". Said that it's hard to do the job even with a window module.

Please help verify that this really can NOT be done. The following is the schematic for the sunroof of Protege5.

I have 4 AUX channels free. All i need is to open and close the roof with my remote.

Initially i was thinking of doing it my self but when i tried to buy a window module for this, the dealer said that it was not possible to control a roof that has a tilting even with a window module.

Please help verify this by looking at the schematic.

Yea, I don't see why you can't do it either. Get a DEI 529t, those are the sunroofs modules. You should be able to hook up OPEN to one channel, and CLOSE to another. By the way, what alarm do you have that has 4 extra channels? that's cool :-)

To answer your questions "djfearny2", my car is a Mazda Protege5. It has a sunroof that is electronically controlled, check the schematic on my previous post.

As for "cpgoose" question relating to the alarm, I have the Autopage RS-850LCD.

My car is a hatch that is why i do not use channel 2 of the alarm which is the trunk release. The alarm does have channel 4,  5, 6 available for use. They can be programmed to be momentary, latched, latched ignition reset, and pulse, and timer 0.9 to 2 minutes.

Now I have another question, is it OK not to use sunroof module?

I am thinking of using channel 4 and a relay for sunroof opening and program it to be active for about 5 seconds and channel 5 and another relay for sunroof closing and program it to be active for about 5 seconds.  I have checked the roof will fully open if i hold the switch for 5 seconds and the same thing for closing.

What i am worried though is that if the time is not right the motor maybe supplied voltage more then it should. Wil my motor be damage?

I have a relay to the sunroof of my integra, and from there-channel 2 of the RS3 close only though.  Works fine, relays and your channels(two, like you said-one for open, one for close)should do it.

True, you can do it with a relay...just be careful because like you said......you can burn out the motor if the timing isn't right. You'll get that rrrrrrrr. That's why the sunroof modules are cool, because they know when to stop.

one of the first things I ever did a long time ago was help a friend of mine hook his VW sunroof up to his Viper 500HF...the exact details arent that clear right now, cuz I was just learning more than anything at that point, and for some reason cant remember exactly what we did...

if you want me to ask him, I can get ahold of him tomorrow and get back to you, but it worked very well and we didnt have any problems with it...
