Im trying to locate the tach wire on a 99 full size chevy pickup. 8 coils

Tach Signal WHITE AT IGNITION COIL OR PCM * #238
Ignition #2 WHITE IGNITION SW. HARNESS (TRANSMISSION)
Ignition #3 ORANGE IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS (HEAT/AC)#216
Accessory BROWN IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS
Neutral Safety NOT GROUNDING TYPE - OEM SWITCH OPENS STARTER CIRCUIT
Brake Light WHITE (+) AT SWITCH ABOVE BRAKE PEDAL
Reverse Light L GREEN (+) AT SWITCH ON TRANSMISSION
Rear Window Defrost N/A
* Ignition Coil Is Located On Passenger Rear Of Engine. Some Trucks Will Be Equipt With A Multi-Coil Ignition System Similer To The Corvette. Tach Wire May Be Located At Each Coil Or At The PCM Left Front Of Engine Compartment. #216 - See G.M. Extra Ignition Diagram. #238 - See G.M. Passlock II Diagram.

or just pick up a tach signal on one of the injectors, done it b4 and it works great, BTW you will need a bypass unit for the passlock II, try the pldata, it works great

okay theres only one prob. no white wire at the coils, where is the pcm? i

ECM is located near the battery, down low, between the fender and the fan under the black plastic cover. On the 4.3L, the tach wire is at pin 20 in the connector labeled 'red', and VSS wire is at pin 3 in the connector labeled 'black'. On the 4.8L, 5.3L, and 6.0L, the tach wire is located at pin 10 in the 'red' connector.

NOTE: If you have a 1999 Classic Pickup, refer to the 1998 Full Size Pickup. NOTE: This vehicle has the passlock II immobilizer system that, when adding a remote start, must be interfaced with. Use DEI part 555t or 555L. *1 The BCM is located behind the drivers side of the dash. The plugs on the BCM face towards the rear of the vehicle. The parking lights are in pin A5 and the headlights are in pin A11. *2 Use tan for the drivers door located in pin B4 of the purple plug, and for the passenger door it will be a orange in pin B2 in the purple plug or dk.blue/white in pin B11 of the lt.blue plug, must diode isolate these wires. *3 ECM is located near the battery, down low, between the fender and the fan under the black plastic cover.
