Im sure someone can help me with this..... im going to be installing some switches (to control neon and stuff) on my dash.  I have an 03 mustang, and i want to drill holes in the dash area to mount the switches.  I will also be mounting leds above the switches to light when the switch is on.  Also, when i install my alarm, im going to drill some more holes in places like the top of the door by the lock pin to place a blinking led.... im wondering if anyone has tips on drilling holes in the dash/doors to mount leds or switches. also, how do you fasten the switch so it doesnt move around, if theres nothing holding it, when you hit the switch it will probably move the whole thing.... also, anyone know how to drill holes in hard plastic.... i was thinking of also putting a led on the underside of the rearview mirror, but its hard plastic so ill have to get a hole in it somehow with out cracking it or messing it up.. thanks for the help and tips

My only suggestion would be to drill into a panel that is 1) easy to replace and 2) cheap to replace. Another tip would be to make sure and push on the drill when you first drill the hole to make sure the bit doesn't "walk" when you start.

I use either 1 of 2 options when mounting switches, eithter drill a big hold then square it off w/ a sharp razor blade, or dremel the entire hole, most switches are round and have a nut to tighten the hold them in, and the square ones have a lip so they click into place, i did a neon install on a mustang once and i was an idiot and didnt check what was behind the panel b4 i mounted the switch, so MAKE sure u check to make sure nothing is being the panel, like a big metal bar! or u will end up cutting some metal to make the switch fit, and thats a mess u do not want that! if mounting a LED on the rear view mirrior, do not dtill into the mirror!, moutn the leds on a stip of thin metal or wood of some sort an attatch that to the mirror some way, by like glue or doublesided tape,  there is no gap to mount an LED on the mirror. if you are wiring regular LEDs make sure u use a resistor or u'll blow them, anyhow best of luck!

I use a unibit for round holes. Dremel for square holes. Unibit is a very good and acurate tool for those small holes.
