How can I wire up my trunk release button to be disabled in all cases except when the alarm is disarmed and has power going to it? (Like an N.O. starter cut.)    I tried using 12v and the starter interrupt output on the 85 and 86 pins on the relay, but it didn't seem to work.   The alarm is Alpine's SEC-150r.

If your still looking at this then wow. Hopefully you have it set to email.

Pins 85 and 86 need to different polarities. You cannot tie them together.

Correct method:

2 relays (so as 1 doesn't stay 100% powered when armed)

#1 relay

85 - constant 12v
86 - switch side of trunk button wire (assuming negative) (cut wire)
30 - jumpered to pin 85 (+)
87 - to pin 85 of 2nd relay
87a - no connection

#2 relay

85 - connect to relay 1 pin 87
86 - starter wire relay from alm (diode iso)
30 - trunk button wire, trunk side
87 - ground or jumpered to pin 86 on relay #1

I have a way that will work with one relay, but will be slightly less convenient:

85: fused 12 volts
86: domelight supervision output from alarm.
87: trunk-release input to alarm
30: trunk-release output to car's trunk (you will of course need another relay if your trunk release is a high-current design.

After you disarm your alarm, you'll have about 30 seconds in which your trunk release will operate.

Cool.. thanks for the info!  I had set it aside for the last month or so while on vacation and was just about to get back to either tomorrow or next week.   Thanks again!  I'll let you know how it goes.   I'm also going to try and wire it up to use the remote to pop the hatch while I'm at it.
