I want to set it up so the trunk release is disabled unless the alarm has power and is disarmed (like the starter cut relay).    I tried hooking up a relay to to the "starter interrupt output:" (- 200mA) of my alarm on 85 and 12v to 86 of the relay, but the relay didn't close.   Any ideas on what I need to do to make this work?  The alarm is Alpine's SEC-150r.   Thanks.

that should make the relay open to the 87.

That's how I had the wires hooked up.   But nada.   If I connected the relay's 85 to a ground with a test light, it did work.   It just didn't work with the wire from the alarm.  But maybe I was careless in some way.    So... how I described it should work then?
