Subject: DEI 555F programming - doesn’t work

I've got everything hooked up properly, but I can't get the DEI 555F to bypass the PATS system. The remote start works fine if I have a key near the ignition, but I can't get the 555F to properly broadcast the signal. Anybody have any tips for programming this thing? I've been following DEI's directions for that past 2 hours with no results.

Sorry - no edit function.

The vehicle is a 1999 Ford Expedition. I have followed the directions - put in key 1, turn to "on", wait until THEFT light goes out, repeat with key 2, place transponder by keyhole, remote start.

No dice - I've tried locating the transponder all over the place, but it just won't work.
