I installed a Hornet 700T RKE add-on alarm in a 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue. Everything works OK except that when the ignition switch is turned to on, the alarm disarms without requiring any input from the valet switch. The manual states that the valet switch must be pressed within 10 seconds after turning the ignition on.

As a test, I tried disconnecting the ignition wire from the alarm and armed it. I turned the ignition to on and this time the alarm did not shut off so I don't think any other wire is causing this. The alarm is not bypassing any zones and I also tried another module and the same thing happened.

Has anyone seen this or know what might be wrong? Thanks.

Why don't you install an IGN disable. Chances of someone breaking into your car without opening your car door with a key of yours is very slim. If the system is bypassed to the point where the thief is inside your car with a spare key then there's other issues that need to be addressed first.

Sounds like bad programming or malfuction of the brain. Are you sure the alarm was armed when you tried turning the key. If I did such thing with my hornet the alarm would go off (siren blaring, not disarm).
