remote start on Carb. Manual

Is it possible to put remote start on a carbeurated manual car? i was told it must be fuel injected but i have heard both ways... thanks

remote start is for fuel-injected automatic transmission cars. Of course it can be put on a car that doesn't meet those requirements but when doing so safety or the likely-hood that it will work as expected go down. The manual issue isn't the real biggy, just a loss of some safety, but the carb on the other hand is an issue since the remote start system nor the car will be able to push the gas pedal in the case of a hard start condition. As you may expect the remote start wouldn't have too good a ratio of successful starts over failed starts. You could always convert the carb to fuel-injected.

I have seen this done with a solenoid that opened the carb...basically the solenoid was mounted on a fabricated bracket from the firewall and when it was at rest it was at idle...when the remote starter was activated, it would kick the solenoid open via a timed relay that would release in 15 seconds...

this car in particular started really easy except for the cold mornings when you need the remote starter the most, heh...that is why the solenoid was allowed 15 seconds to allow the car some cranking time to start in the weather...it was a fairly short throw solenoid, so it didnt open to full throttle, and I think the guy replaced the solenoid a few times because of all the action when the car was driven and the solenoid was idle...

I am not sure if this would be something for a junior installer or a novice/amateur to try to pull off, cuz if it gets messed up it could potentially be bad, especially in an standard...
