Hi

  I just bought a Clifford Matrix RS3 Alarm System with remote start. I have a 1993 Mazda Mx-3 that was just broken into last week. They ripped thru the door under the handel to get in. The damage done was $1400.00+ not to mention my amp, headunit and radardetector are now gone. The body shop sugested that I shave my doorlocks off and by a shave kit with acuators to pop the doors open when I need in. My question is : is there a way to have the Matrix RS3 Alarm set up to pop these aftermarket acuators or will I need a seperate keyfob.

Question 2: I have a manual transmission. Anyway to safely set up this to remote start. I have easy access to the netrual switch. Is there a universial kit or somthing to interface with a remote start system to accomidate Manual transmissions?

RS3 has two channels that you can use right away.  four more with the channel expander. manual tranny hook-up: various ways.  you say that you have easy access to the neutral switch-there you go.

Have you tested your neutral safety switch with a DMM. I ask because not very many manual transmission vehicles have a neutral safety switch. Basically for you to be able to use that wire, it needs to be a single wire that when throwing a DMM lead on it, it should read either (+) or (-) when in neutral, and when it is in any gear it needs to read the opposite. If you have this, then you just need to hook it up to the neutral safety wire on the Clifford, or if there is not one, then you can connect the wire and a relay to the hoodpin wire on the Clifford.

If you dont have this, then you need to buy a Remote starter designed for manual transmission vehicles. On such units there is a process that you need to perform before the car will start remotely. It is quite simple after you get the hang of it. with the car running, you need to pull the E-brake, put the car in neutral, press the start button on the transmitter to tell the unit to take over the car so you can pull the key out and leave it running, then get out of the car and shut the door. Then shut the car down using the transmitter. Now you are in what is typically referred to as "ready mode". If you open one of the car doors the unit will exit ready mode. So all you need to do if you need to open the car door again, is to start the car with the remote on your way out to the car, then you can open the doors freely, then just shut the car off again after you shut the door. Otherwise you will need to re-enter ready mode if you open the door while the car is off.

Installing a remote starter that is designed for an automatic transmission on a manual transmission is dangerous. The only way I would ever even think about doing it would be in the cae that I have thoroughly tested a factory installed neutral safety switch. and like I said I have not heard of many manual transmission vehicles with neutral safety switches.

Indeed jrilla, I have to put down that I am risking it when I remote start the car and I DO have a manual tranny.  I have NO safety switches-very dangerous.  I have to always check to see if I left it in neutral before I leave the car.

I haven't checked the wire yet with a DMM ...I did an engine swap a few months ago and this little green wire got snapped in 2. Not until 3 days of scratching my head asking myself why the new engine would not start did I find that connecting this wire back together was all I needed to do to alow the engine to start. The engine would turn over but not start......Was told that it was the neutral switch due to its connection location ....(Manual transmission)
