Ok im getting a Viper 790vx installed in my 2003 4runner on tuesday. Some as*h*le broke into my car on friday and stole my headunit (factory alarm didnt even go off). It they could have only waited a week longer i might have caught them. So the alarm is getting install now instead of at the end of the week like originally planned.

Questions

1. Will the headlights and interior lights turn off when the alarm is armed like he factory alarm does?? can it be easily wired like this?

2. My 03 4runner rear window can be lowered with the factory remote but not raised. But it can be raised and lowered from the rear key lock and the button located on the center console. Will i need a window roll up/down module to have complete up/down control of the rear window from the remote?

3. What is dei's range extender antenna worth the extra money????

4.How is the range on the viper 790vx?

5. Is it hard to install other sensors like Invisibeam Field Disturbance Sensor 508D and the Audio Sensor 506T? If i was to just get the alarm installed and do the rest of the sensors myself is it a big deal with someone with no experience?

6. I want all 5 window to roll-up when the alarm is armed and to be able to control the 4 windows up/down with the remote and the rear window up/down with another button. Does the viper 790vx have enough channels to do this.

7. I enjoy working on my 4runner and all of my past vehicle. I would like to install the window roll-up modules for the 4 doors myself. I know it is time consuming but it is difficult?

Thanks for all the help

Chris

I'll respond to the ones that I think I know: :-)

3. Well, I think you'll be happy with the range that comes with the 790xv. I don't think you'll need the extender. The range on my viper is incredible, and it's an older model.

4. See #3.

5. Not really a big deal, just do some research first on how to do it (especially on sites like this). You can tap into existing sensor wires when you wire a new sensor (unless your alarm already has an open port for it). If you tap into an existing one (such as tying an audio sensor into your trunk sensor), you'll need to wire in some diodes in order to prevent feedback.

7. For controlling 4 windows up and down, you'll need 2 DEI 530t modules. Each one controls 2 windows up and down. You can hook it up to your remote to vent or open your windows all the way. And then if you have a spare channel on your remote, then you can close them as well. I don't have a spare channel on my remote, so if I ever want to close the windows remotely, I just unlock and the lock my car (they'll roll up when the car is armed). Just to give you an example...I didn't have any experience with the window modules either, and I installed it myself. Took me some time, but it's not that hard.

Good luck....write back if you have more questions (sorry I couldn't answer all of them).

as far as question 1, ANYTHING can be done, its just a matter of time and effort...I personally dont know how easy this would be to do...

as far as the 508D, I almost made the mistake of buying one myself lately, but when I actually looked into it, I was unpleasantly surprised to see and hear about how much these units cause false alarms...I honestly havent heard of a single person that was happy with theirs, and two of the local shops refuse to install them because of the constant call backs regarding the amount of false alarms...the 508D cant really be mounted near anything metal or it gets even worse...it has to be mounted somewhere totally isolated from metal, and as far away as anything metal as you can possibly get...

food for thought...
