I am having a tough time on my wife's '03 Yukon XL figuring out some problems. We recently had an RS3 alarm installed, and after some initial problems (dealership found an extra ground that blew out the left hand side turn signals...now corrected), the alarm's features all appear to work correctly, including remote start etc.
The problem is somewhere in the interaction of the DIC (driver info center...or computer), particularly with the driver #1 settings and driver #2 settings. I purchased and had added an additional remote. Driver #1 functions (wife)seem to work ok, but when I use driver #2 (me) key or key fob, it wants to go to the driver #1 settings (seat position etc.), especially when I turn the key off. Dealer thinks the alarm is the problem, not the Yukon.
Questions: Can I have what I want.....a correctly functioning RS3 alarm with 2 pager remotes that work correctly with the factory driver #1 and #2 settings etc. etc.? Could I have an install problem and the alarm still appear to function correctly? Could I have a defective alarm component somehow, or is this something others experience and have to live with it. Clifford advertises their alarms work in conjuction with factory features such as this.

The doorlock module your installer probably used (DEI 456G) only acts as driver 1. All of the databus doorlock modules from other companies I have seen do the same thing. There is no way to change it with the current system you have. You would need an alarm that could output a (-) pulse on wire A when remote 1 is used and output a (-) pulse on wire B when remote 2 is used. Those wires would then need to get hooked to the buttons on the drivers door for settings 1 and 2. I believe some of the older Clifford stuff could do it, as well as some of the higher DEI alarm only units. Nothing with a 2-way remote though. Your pretty much stuck with being driver 1 all the time....unless you reach over and hit the "2" button on the door after starting the vehicle.
