whats the best alarm system i can get for a good price. willing to spend around 300

you can get a viper 550 for about $160 and install it yourself or have it installed and pay about $300 this alarm is a verry good alarm with extreme reliabality and good range with remote start included. It may be a hard alarm for you to buy yourself but if you know someone that should not be a problem.

I really like Alpine for security and Lynx 2000R for range, security & auto start capabilities.
