My alarm came with a hood switch but I don't have the instructions on hooking it up.  There is a wire on the alarm brain that says switch but when I tried grounding it the alram didn't react to it at all.  Do I need a relay for the switch?  Can somebody help me with the wiring?     Thanks.

Did you touch/attach the wire to a good ground to trigger it after arming the alarm?

Yeah, I attached it to a ground that was already being used in my car.  When I removed it from the ground the alarm should've went off right?

No, the alarm should sound when the wire is grounded....not when the ground is removed.

First close the doors and arm the alarm. (Some brands aren't truly armed if you have left a door open.) Then wait a good 5 seconds or so. Then ground the hoodpin wire and see if the alarm goes off.

Also, does your alarm have a remote starter also? If so, they may be only using the hoodpin wire for remote-start safety; not as an alarm trigger.

I armed the alarm and grounded the wire and nothing happened.  My alarm did come with a remote start option but it's not hooked up.  So can I get it to work?  I have a Spy System 2 way Alarm.  I can't find the instructions for it online anywhere..

Its like Chris said the hood pin is probably meant only for the remote start setup, not the alarm part.

You've got your alarm's door trigger working, right? So get a couple of diodes and just tie your hoodpin switch into your alarm's door trigger.

diodes?  I fear of sounding like an idiot, what are does??   How would I do the wiring?  The alarm is hooked up to go off when the light comes on in the inside.
