Ok...i've been on this board for a week now, pouring over post after post to learn and pick up ideas and what not......All i can say is that there are some damn smart, and obviously experienced installers on here.  Unfortunantly i'm not one of em!

anyway, i just picked up a 554t alarm/remote start and a 555f bypass...i still have not decided wether i want to attempt to install it myself. Maybe someone on here will tilt me one way or the other. in the mean time i have a couple of questions (and probably a TON more if  i try and do this myslef)!

1. other than what is included with the 554t and 555f what parts will i need to install this system??...(relays, diodes, or whatever) its going into a 2003 f150 4x4 v8 with power everything

2. i am very proficent in taking things apart, soldering ect ect..as far as car audio goes, i can install and or  fabricate pretty much anything given the right tools and time, but i've only installed one alarm b4 and it was a viper c30..i would venture to say (after reading the installation manual 3 times) that this hornet 554t is quite more complicated...is it really???

3. i dont think i'll have a problem locating and testing to find the right wires to tap, as that is pretty straight foward, where i start to get concerned, and confused, is on the door lock stuff....i have factory locks windows, but after reading this manual, it seems like i need some MORE relays and diodes, and yada yada yada....what other connections will i have to make other than ones that are direct taps to factory wiring, and what additional parts will i require?

i really want to install this myself, as i plan on adding in some ohter options later, and it would be nice to know how the thing works and was installed, paying an installer is not a problem, but then i wont know jack about what he did to install my stuff!!

sorry for the long post, but i'm new (kinda) to this and dont want to mess up a 2 week old truck!!lol

I wish there was a step by step install guide for my truck.....now THAT would simplify things a TON....like a cd with pictures showing where the wires were, what color ect ect......man....someone should do that!!  I'd pay!

There is!!   It's called AutoData.   You can purchase a cd of just your vehical or a whole volune that covers every car and truck out there.

I had one accessable to me when I worked for a repair shop doing installs for them. It was complex but sweet. It would tell you exact voltages for everything and show you pics.

Now It might cost you quite a bit but, if you plan on keeping your vehical for a long time, it will pay for itself. It's not just electrical stuff either, they tell you mechanical data too.

  • It's not that much harder to install the system, but the vehicle that you have is a pain in the rear. It has alot of extra " things " that you have to bypass and it takes time

3. i dont think i'll have a problem locating and testing to find the right wires to tap, as that is pretty straight foward, where i start to get concerned, and confused, is on the door lock stuff....i have factory locks windows, but after reading this manual, it seems like i need some MORE relays and diodes, and yada yada yada....what other connections will i have to make other than ones that are direct taps to factory wiring, and what additional parts will i require?

  • Read the answer above for question # 1. After you have found out which system you have, you can wire up relays like the 5 wire or if you have the Type B system, you do not need any extra relays.

Please email me for a wiring diagram for this truck : techsupport@velocitymotorsport.com

ok...so i talked my installer into putting this system in for a hundred bones and some beer (AFTER he finishes LOL!!!).....he's gonna let me hang around and watch the process and what not, so i guess from now on i;ll pretty much know how to add to/ adjust/ and troubleshoot my system....

It PAYS to know people, and to help people when you can, becuase you NEVER know when you might need thier help!!!...

so thanks to those of you who wasted your time posting in my thread!!..
