OK,
Here’s question for the really good electronics whizzes;
I have an Avantguard 4 alarm that the Night Vision sensor seems not to be working. I have even tried checking it out with the Cliff Wizard software and no errors show up.
Now, is it possible to put some generic LDR (light detecting relay) in place of the sensor since that is all it is anyway?
…And if so, what would be the value (part number) of the part so I can find one somewhere like RAT Shack?
Thanks in advance,
KP

its actually a photo detector that varies in resistance depeding on the light source. You should contact DEI to find out what the specs are.

If you unplug the sensor, your lights should stay on all the time since the alarm will think it's always night time. If they do stay on all the time then you have a faulty sensor. If not, it's maybe something else in the installation. I think any photo cell sensor will do if it's faulty, I don't do that kind of installation anymore but not long ago I used to use the factory sensor that cars have on top of the dashboard.

Ok, so an open circuit turns the lights on? I thought it would be a closed?
Thanks,
