anyone know what frequency the 491T hornet remotes work on?  i'm thinking of replacing it with a 484T (a 4-button transmitter), but i think those work at 434mhz.

I dont know the exact frequency, but I do know this much.... If yer 491t has a red led on the transmitter, you can replace it with pretty much any dei 4 button with a red led also. But you CANNOT use a transmitter with a green led, they are not compatible. I think the 491 can be replaced with a 485t. Check viper's website, they have a transmitter cross reference guide. Then you can be sure.

i checked directed.com's transmitter cross reference guide, and it only shows the 491T as a compatible remote.  the thing is, when you download the install and owner's manual for the latest version of the 553T, the pages show a 4-button remote.

if i can't find a 4-button replacement remote, how would i access channels 2 and 4 on the 2-button 491T?

if you have a 491t two button, the remote lights up red when you press the button. The 4 button replacement for this would be a 485t. And as for accessing the channels, you can only acess 3 channels with a two button remote. Channel two is by pressing button two for at least 3 seconds. Channel three is triggered by hold both buttons at the same time.
