ok i hooked up the door locks in this car when i did them i used the wires the other alarm had in there. I sent these wires a negative pulse for both lock and unlock. Now this car had driver side priority locking which i di dnot use when i installed the alarm. now the locking and unlocking work ok,But the guy tells me that when he disarms his alarm sometimes the doors dont unlock the first time,he hast to first press lock and then unlock for them to work.. why is this?also my notes on this car tell me there is two starter wires but when i test for them all i see is two accesory wires, one starter wire, one power wire to the ignition switch, one ignition wire. Has anyone worked on this car before?

You may need to go to the door lock motors:

  • LOCK MOTOR -------------- WHITE/ red
  • UNLOCK MOTOR ------------- yellow
  • Located in a green 18-pin connector by the driver fuse box

The 1999 TL does not have a second starter wire according to all my notes, but if it does and they are wrong, then you need to find this wire that sends a (-) signal and attach a relay to this while in remote start. This will be much the same as the systems in the 2002-2003 Dodge Grand Caravan.

Sorry velocity i meant to say my notes say it has two ignitions but i only see two accesories wires, and another thing can you help clear this flasher thing i never used them i am now learning how they work .Im surprised it is not in my mecp study guide. How would you make them honk a horn which is a negative trigger?

Only one IGNITION wire ( BLACK / YELLOW ). With the flasher, you want the horn to activate when the flasher is going ? As far as I know you need to reverse the polarity of the parking lights output wire ( unless it's already a (-) by using a relay in this configuration:

  • 85 : Light flash input from alarm
  • 86 & 87 : GROUND
  • 30 : Horn (-) input wire

As the lights flash on pin 85 it will send a (-) signal to the horn, but between the pulses the relay shuts off and that gives you the delay in the horn. In my mind this works but in the car, you will ahve to see. It will all be dependant on whether or not the time between light flashes is enough to deactivate the relay and re-activate it before the next flash will occur. Check it out and the worst thing that could happen is that the horn stays on while it is in panic mode posted_image.
