Hi, I recently had my 92 Ford Mustang convertible broken into, and have decided I need a security system of some kind. I don't know much about security systems, but know that for a convertible, a microwave alarm is best (correct?) Anyone have any advice as to brands, features, etc. I'm trying to stay as economical as possible, without totally skimping on the function though! Thanks!

Also, should I look for a simple car alarm that has an input for a microwave sensor? Or does it work better to find one that has the microwave sensor built in?

We have had great success the Alpine alarms, Lynx 2000R systems and Clifford/Ungo units as well. It all depends on the features you want and the amount of money you wish to spend. When it comes to the alarm system, you really can't be cheap because if you really want to protect your investment you have to spend a little more to do so. All these alarms either have the radar sensor with the alarm as a stand alone module or you have to add one onto it, but they all support a radar sensor.

Thanks for the info. Quick question for ya. Is there a difference between a microwave sensor and a radar sensor? If so, is one better than the other? Thanks!
