The "type of relay" would be the standard alarm 30/40amp relay

Depending on the car you would need more then just that plus you'll need several more buttons (start, ign on, ign off, or a switch for ign on/off) Your car might need a theft bypass also which adds to it. Not to mention are you planning on doing this and showing people to the trick? Cause then you'll have no way to protect the car from theft.

Get remote start. Push button start went out with Knight Rider. lol ;)

if you want to know how to wire it (remote or push button start)let us know.

another option would be to install something ike a crimestopper 800 where you hook the lead that was desined to come from a standard alarms aux channel ( for remote start add-on ) to a push button swtich. This would give you the start and ign features but then you'd need the key to move the car anywhere.

OK I have another thread in realtion to this project
I have an 02 WRX and a 02 Neon.

I'm getting a DEI 790xv put in both of them hopefully if I can get some help on how to hook it up because they are manuals and haven't installed one on a manual b4.

As far as the pushbutton I just want to know what I need and how to build the relay or whatever to eliminate turning my key to the ign psotion. Both push buttons are already installed...

For the ign relay here's my take

This cuold be used if you are just going to use a momentary button for the ign as simular to the starter button. This requires like 7 relays total though.

It the switch can be held in the "on" position(toggle) then you could:

3 relays (4 if 3 ign wires)
86- all get positive (low current)
85- all connect to your button, the other side of the button to negative
30- all to fused high current positive
87 (relay 1) - to ign 1
87 (relay 2) - to ign 2
87 (relay 3) - to acc 1
87 (relay 4) - ign 3 (if you have 3 ign's)
87a no connection all

you'll need to activate the theft byass (if needed)off this somehow.

The starter relay itself is to easy

86 - to ign 1
85 - to your start button other side of sw to negative
30 - to the starter wire (motor side)
87 - to positive
87a - to starter wire (key side)

Good luck
