Hi all, I'm new here and just discovered this site last night in desperation. I must say it is a lifesaver!! Anyway, I am trying to find the wire that turns on the headlights on a 2001 Eclipse. I've got the parking lights, but I want the headlights to flash also. All I need is wire color/location and I can do the rest. Thanks!!

HEADLIGHTS--------------------ORANGE -----------------headlight relay under hood
** BECAREFUL about this hook up. Headlight circuit requires quite a bit of current and if you have Xenon or Plasma headlights, you may burn out the bulbs or the flasher unit in the module.

Ok, thanks, I'm using a seperate relay to apply power to the headlights. There isn't a wire under the dash that I can apply a signal to? The headlights are the standard factory halogen.

Sorry, no info on the steering column wire. Use a DMM and trace the wires coming off the light switch for the correct wire.

Ok, I've been trying that. I haven't been able to isolate a single wire that changes when I turn the headlights on. There are approx. 3 different voltages going through the headlight/turnsignal switch. 12v 10v and 5v. I just wish that it was as easy as an American car... big thick wire that's obvious. Not 8 wires of the same size. Thanks for your help.
If anyone else out there has an idea please help!
If I find it myself, I will post an answer. (back to the grind)

How are you testing the wires....are you doing the method of elimination......
1) Test all wires with the switch off......any wire showing current push to the side ( the switch is off, and the wire has current, its the 12V constant)
2) samething, except this time have the swithc turned to the parking light position, when you get a wire that shows current, turn the switch off..if the current goes bye bye, that's your parking light wire. Eliminate it and push it to the side, not the wire you want.
3) Same bloody thing, except with the switch in the headlight position....When you find the wire with current...bling bling...there's your wire for headlight power. ( If I remember correctly it should be twelve volts. see what the voltage is at the headlights. Now I could be wrong, SO USE A DMM!!)
I don't know much about Eclipses otherwise I'd give you the wiring code.
hope this helps
