Hey everyone...I would like to finally buy an alarm now that I have a car worthy of protectingposted_image.  I currently have installed a keyless entry system and remote starter, but I would like to get more advanced.  I know everyone recommends DEI, but (1) they're not cheap and (2), are all of their products comprable?  Clifford, Hornet...

These are things I would like to have:

  • Keyless entry
  • Output for remote start (cause I'm thinking I can just add my existing remote start to it)
  • Proximity sensor for sunroof
  • Two way paging? - So I will know if something bad is happening....or so I can tell that I remotely started the car
  • Trunk pop
  • Horn honk
  • Domelight supervision
  • Other outputs so I can do window rollups/rolldowns

Any cool suggestions?  And do you always have to go to a local audio store to buy DEI?  You can't buy it from their site?  They seem to gouge the price.  OH, on more (Sorry), if I install the alarm myself...am I not covered then if something goes wrong?  I think with DEI you're covered if someone certified installs it?

THANKS!

I personally like Crimestopper alarms. Their alarms have all of what you are looking for. I've installed 2 of their systems (my car and one other car). I have on my car a remote start, window roll up, sunroof close, trunk pop, horn honk and keyless entry. I don't have the two way page. The most recent I installed has battery backup and window rollup. It was a pretty intense install. I used the CS-2003DC alarm brain. Crimestopper website
Logjam Electronics Logjam is where I bought everything for my most recent install. Very friendly and EXTREMELY fast shipping.
Check them out.

Dei (viper)their top of the line remote starters and alarms are great but all of dei"s products are hard to get MOst shops wont sell them over the counter as they are not supposed to.But you can get them from e bay or you can always get one of mine i'm sure I have something for you. That is true if you install the viper or any of thier products thier is no warranty.I have the viper 550 esp for sale i used it for like a month then i bought a clifford because i wanted the turbo timer interface, but i can give it to you cheap otherwise my stuff will be going on e bay.

Hey thanks, Logan.  I never heard of Crimestopper until recently.  How much did your system that you described cost you?  (Oh, duh, I'll check that website, too, but was just curious).  And one more thing....the keyless entry I have is a Bulldog Security.  I liked it for like the first 2 months and I would swear by them, but after that it started acting up and now I don't think  I would get them again.  I'm not sure how long you've had your CS, but if you've had it for a while, do you still feel the same way about it as when you got it?

Hey mobiletoys2002, what are you looking for (price) for the viper 550 esp?  What's the turbo timer that the clifford has?  You can post here, or email me.

Thanks!

The system I have on my car is a Crimestopper HP9740MX4. I don't know if they make it any more or not. I've had it for about 2 years. It's an extremely versatile system. Three remote outs, the whole nine yards. When I bought it it was around $300. That wasn't including the window roll up or the remote start. Total for my system was around $500. I know I spent too much now... but that's the price of experience. The system I just installed; alarm, battery backup, second siren, glass break detector, window roll up, etc, was just over $300. I would have gone with viper or clifford but they were too expensive for the same stuff. And I couldn't install the viper myself. If you are like me, you don't want someone else knowing all the secrets you put into your system.
Hope this helps.
Logan

1.  What's the coded starter kill?
2.  And this esp doesn't come with window rollup or proximity sensor, those are extra, correct?
3.  What parts do you think are complicated to install?
4.  What wiring harnesses do you have that you think I'll need (like for what option would I need them for?)

5.  Where are you located mobiletoys?

1) well thats an option that the new vipers have it is a iluminated keypad that can control the brain and the starter kill.you can put the alarm in valet mode with it, you can arm the starter kill by itself you can disarm the starter kill, you can use it as your alarms led you can do a lot. And all these functions can be acsesed with a code of your choice.

2) It has outputs for the window control modules but it is extra as with most alarms.

3) it is not really complicated to install but any alarm is hard if you never done one before especially a remote start it has more wires than most alarms but it is not half as hard as a clifford. The hardest thing you will have to do is find your tach wire and any options you may have to do that you want

4) I have everything that comes with the 550,and i have most anything you will want as i do a lot of vipers and i have a lot of parts, accesories, wires, etc

5) im in new york

Cp goose i hope i answered your questions. To add to my earlier post the coded starter kill  is just an option you dont need it, but it is nice to know you have if you ever do want it. But  the 550 will come with all necasary relay's including starter kill and alll remote start relays as well. Its a great alarm with a 600+ foot of range and it will have all major options included all you will need is a few relays to make trunk pop available, etc i can give you them cheap as well. Get back tell me if your interested i can show pics whatever you want. I can include wire diagram for your car even pre wire the door lock relays (if applicable in your car) for you to make it that much easier to install . see ya and good luck I hope i can help you out if not now maybe some other time .posted_image

Hey mobiletoys2002,
Yes, I think I'm starting to get interested, just not 100% yet.
A few more questions for you:

1.  Can you tell me everything it would come with?  I was looking at the dei site,
but it's not that great.  Can you just list everything for me (be as specific as you can).

-If you have a good picture, that would be cool, too.

2.  Do you have anything else I would be interested in?  A different version with more
or less capabilities?  In one way I don't necessarily need the remote start cause I already
have one that I can hook in...although it would be nice to get rid of my current system,
and just use this one.  Or, to the other extreme, do you have others that have more auxillary inputs?

3.  What kind of condition is the unit in and how old is it that you can
sell it for $80?

You can email me too,  cpgoose@hotmail.com

Thanks.

Cool, it sounds like it has everything I need.
I haven't received an email yet from you (it's 1:35pm),
so I think it's just taking a while.

By the way, I didn't say the alarm was "not that good", I meant
the picture of the alarm on DEI's website wasn't that good.
It's not a great picture.  posted_image If you had a better picture
of YOUR unit, that would help.

Thanks for all the replies...I'll wait for your email.
