i tested 2 open spots in my fuse panel (99 civic), and they test 12v. are these good places to use as 12v sources for relays i want to use for accessories? if so, would i need to fuse the connection? i can connect to these sources with female disconnects.

no, not for a stereo amp. i got that on 8awg wire straight to my battery. i'm thinking of using it for a trunk release solenoid, timed headlights. would i need a fuse?

I dont know for the trunk release i would think it is ok, what do you mean the headlights? to trigger the headlight relay or to actually drive them? Triggering them should be fine, but i dont think i would drive them with it. Fuse, well i say fuse everything, it cant hurt.

well, there's a (-) trigger from my alarm, and i want that as the trigger for a relay to power my headlights. the trigger's timer can be set, and i don't plan on setting it to more than 15 sec.

As long as your lights won't be running from the fuse box 12v source for an extended period of time, you should be fine. But I would fuse the wire to be safe. My only concern with using a 12v source from a fuse box is that you can't soder the connection or secure it well. Make sure you don't run too much from that source. Good luck... ------------- ...o0O P.J. O0o...
