I was attempting to put a relayed switch on my civic. I only spliced one wire in an attempt to find which wire was the starter wire and/ or the hot wire coming out of the ignition. After i tested for a light the first time the radio shut off and nothing happened. As in a lock out. Is this what happened is there a way to fix it what can i do.

"attempting to put a relayed switch on my civic"
Why?, as a starter interupt? for security reasons?
"After i tested for a light" umm... testing for what light>? Were you using a test light while probing the ignition harness? and the light tested was in the probe? "radio shut off and nothing happened" uh... did the car start? Dit it try to start? Did you turn the key to the crank position while testing>? If so, did you return the key position to off? to run? to accesory? This post is riddled with ambiguities. But... the starter wire on a civic is BLACK/ White....(thick) And it's usually paired with the constant 12+ wire(thick White) and wrapped within a black vinyl loom running parallel with the Ignition (BLACK / YELLOW[thick]) and accesory (I think yellow) When I say thick... I believe the wires to be 10 guage with sturdy insulation. These two vinyl clad looms are fastened below the steering column exiting left towards the top of the fuse box. If "nothing" is still happening in your civic, respond with some specifics and perhaps we can isolate and solve your problems individually.

Ok let me be a bit more specific. I was attempting to put a relay in to attach a kill switch to the ignition. i was using a test light probing the ignition harness for the hot wire and the ignition starter wire. When i turned the key to accessory nothing happened, to on nothing to turn over the engin nothing. The dome light in the car was on and it was still making the typical honda beeping noise when the key was in the ignition. I spliced only one wire i beleve it was the BLACK/ white wire. Not cut in half but spliced in like i said an attempt to find the correct "Starter" wire as there are 4 wires thatcome out of the ignition. It was a 10 guage wire... you asked when i turned the car to start what happened sequence of events, 1 spliced the wire, 2 grounded the test light, 3 put tip of test light to the only wire that was spliced, 4 turned the car from the accessory position to the on to turn over engine nothing happened car shut off completely for radio and air all accessories circut.
