If you don't arm it with the factory remote, it will never arm itself. If you are worried about it, hide a remote somewhere in the car in case it ever gives you a problem and you aren't at home.

cholo233,

samdub is right about the OEM factory alarm, if you install a after market alarm and wire up the powerlocks, the OEM factory door lock motor will arm the OEM factory alarm system. To bypass this OEM alarm, there is a 22 pin harness in the driver kick panel. locate the yellow wire in this harness. To ensure that you are on the right harness, take a computer safe test light and test the yellow wire.  When you, either lock the doors by hand or by OEM factory remote the yellow wire will supply a 12 volt rating positive. Either cut this wire or ground it. This wire is what activates and deactivates the OEM alarm system.

In addition the, powerlock wires are located in this same 22 ping harness. I think the colors for those are grey and green, reverse 5 wire door system. If don't know how to wire a reverse 5 wire, please refer to this site for diagrams.

importturbo is right, if you install your system correctly you should never have to 'hide' your factory alarm transmitter in your car!

Oh I forgot to add one more thing, there is a second wire to disarm the OEM factory alarm. The yellow wire is an alarm input wire, there is a blue wire that you need to also cut in that same 22 pin harness. This blue wire outputs a negitive, so you will need either use a computer safe test light or a regular test light, but with the regular test light you will need to supply 12 volts to the clip end.

I hope this helps you out.

Thanks for everones help, we decided to just simply go with a remote start unit that works with the exsisting factory kelyless entry. i installed it this past weekend and it was a success. I also installed a full alarm in a 2003 tiburon. it took a whole 2 days too complete and the factory alarm i guess only works when you lock and unlock with the factory remote. it didnt give any problems, just time to do a neat job! thanks!
