Subject: 99 Miata Door Lock Question

I have recently installed an Alpine 150R and installed it in my wifes miata.  I have everything working just like it should with the exception of the door locks.  I have the same alarm installed on my 2002 B-3000 and I had added aftermarket power door lock actuators, so they were no problem to install, but with the miata if you manually lock the drivers side door it locks the passenger side also.  My question is what controls the locking and unlocking?  I was going to take the drivers door cover off, but the person who owned the car before me has stripped the screw and I can't get the door cover off.  I am hoping that there is a wire that I can tap into to use for the lock/unlock for the alarm.  If anyone knows where a relay or wire is that I can tap into I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance

The Miata uses a central door locking system taht you will need to add a single actuator ( on either the driver's side or passenger side { as long as this holds true for the passenger side controling the driver side } ) on the locking mechanism.

Thanks for the quick post, and the information.

It does not hold true.  If I unlock the passenger door from outside it only unlocks the passenger side.  So now I am guessing that I will need to add an actuator to the drivers door so that it will unlock both of them.

Yup. You have to drill out the screw and get the door panel off the install the actuator.
