i was looking for an easy way to install a kill switch in my car without cutting wires since i didnt really know what wires to cut so what i did was i reffered to my owners manual and found the fuse that controls the ignition and the starter and replaced that with two wires stuck into the fuse socket and i ran it to a switch inside my car and it works like a charm. tha car cant be started without this switch being enabled. its an easy way to install a kill switch without it having to be permenent.

But you just removed the fuse? Now whatever was protected with that fuse is now unprotected....doesn't sound like a good idea to me.

I always just use a rocker switch and interrupt the starter wire...Cut it in half, wire each end to the switch (you will have to get some extra hook-up wire of the same guage as the starter wire to make it longer so you can route it to the switch), either gives continuity or not...simple but extremely effective.

I like rocker switches cuz u can get em full black in color and they don't stick out which makes em easy to hide.

The wire you need is White w/Pink tracer in the Ignition Switch Harness, just take the steering column cover off and you'll see those heavy gauge wires coming off the key.

I was thinking about doing the same on an old MX3, what size switch (amp rating) is needed?

I believe it's a 30 amp switch, I get em from a local auto parts store, i'll check it out.

Checked, it's a 32 Amp switch.

Placement of the switch is thee key.  Kill just the starter wire?  How about when you turn the key to the "ON" position. Kill that whole power.  I don't know... but I do know what thieves carry with them.   Maybe a couple of 16GA wires with alligator clips on the ends...
