I am installing a remote starter on my 2000 tacoma V6,3.4L . I tapped into the igniter tach wire because i do not have a tach in the dash. Which is were i was told to connect it to. But about 24 hours later my check engine light came on until i disconnected the wire connection at the igniter and reset the computer the warning light went off. I need to know what the problem might be or were else i can find a tach wire to connect to.

Do you have a reason to believe that your tach connection is what caused the check engine light to come on? The igniter has always worked fine for me.
Furthermore, the remote starter's tach wire just kind of "reads" whatever the car is doing......it doesn't place a drain or put out power or anything like that.....so of all your connections, a wrong tach connection would be about the most unlikely thing to cause trouble with the car.
I'd hook the tach back up and run the car a few days and see how everything goes. You probably just somehow tripped up the car's computer at some point during your install, but since you have already reset it, it will probably be okay now.
If you really want to find tach someplace else, I'd start at the ECM which is behind the glove box. The most likely tach color for a Toyota is BLACK/ orange, followed by black or the occasional WHITE/ green.
