Yeah basically it will connect to all your normal remote start wires and it will also connect to some of the switch and motor wires. Not a huge deal just disconnect them and also test each one as you go because you will probably need to tie right back into most of the wires to do your install with the exception of the motor wires. Good luck

The way the starter works that is already installed is likely like this: If you press the lock button on your transmitter three times in a row rather quickly, the car should start. Some models require you to press Lock, Unlock, Lock to trigger the remote start, or some combination of three presses of buttons. How it works is that the Remote starter has a trigger wire that requires typically three pulses. Since it uses the factory keyless transmitter, you really onluy have a couple choices for wires so the lock wire is the best. Then it requires three presses, so you dont start your car every time you lock your doors, and it should always end with a press of the Lock button so you dont leave your doors unlocked.
Like NowYaKnow said, you will need to connect to all of the wires that the current starter is connected to, so you should use that to your advantage. Get a wire diagram identifying the wires in your car, and then as you begin to cut the old starter unit out, follow the units wire to where it is connected to the factory wire and figure out what the purpose of that wire is by looking at the wire diagram, then look in the new manual to see what color wire needs to be connected there and make the connection.
It is very helpful when there is already a unit installed because you dont need to break your neck and back and knees by having to look around for wires way up under the dash as long as you leave enough wire to work with when cutting out the old unit. Make sure you test the wires though before naking your connection to ensure that you are making the right connection. Also make sure the old connections were good enough by giving them a little tug. I always solder my connections, so it is a good idea to verify the type of connections the previous installer made.
Good luck.
