hey i was trying to install my panther 2way alarm the other day and i ran into a few problems. mostly with the door locks and trunk release. the 12volts wiring diagram says the doors are a 5 wire positive. and in the diagram they say lock is light blue and unlock is white. how do i go at this? i'm lost at what to do next? there are 2 white and 2 lightblue wires? how can i test? also the trunk always has 12v running through so how can i test for the wire? theres 2 BLACK/ white wires, how can i tell which it is?
also does anyone have any other diagrams that might help? anything would be great!
thanks
chad
one more thing? do i need apasslock or something? man i am new to this. and lost =)
thanx
Well, first you need a low current test light(autozone sells one for $5). Connect one end to chassis ground and use the other end to probe the suspect wire(s). Now press lock or unlock(get someone to help if needed) If you are probing the correct wire you should register voltage when the lock or unlock button is pressed and no voltge when it is released. Once you have identified the correct wires, cut them in half. Your locks should NOT be able to operate. Now probe each end of the cut wire while you operate the lock\unlock switch, one side will still register voltage(1 blue wire and 1 white wire)but the locks will not work. The sides that register voltage are the "switch" sides of the locks and the other halves are the "motor" sides. Wire 2 relays according to the directions provided with your alarm and your done. The trunk release will be the same. Probe the suspect wire and have someone operate the trunk release button. You will pick up momentary voltage every time the button is pressed. Wire 1 relay according to the alarm diagram. the12volt.com offers numerous diagrams and relay configurations for 5-wire rest at ground(door locks) as well as converting to a 12volt output(trunk release).
Have fun!
sounds good c2deez. thanks for the help. i am going to give it another go this weekend! hopefully i can finish it all up =)
thanks again.
