Does anyone know how to disable the oem security system in a Jeep Cherokee 1991 Limited Edition?  Sometimes when you disarm the alarm (I installed a clifford intelliguard 6000) the oem security system flashes the lights and honks the horn until you put the key in the door lock and unlock it, then it shuts off.  I'd like to be able to disable this, does anyone know how to do this?  In wiremagic it says the factory disarm is Purple / YELLOW but I don't think that would be used in this situtation because it didn't come with a factory remote/start.  Any help would be great.  Thanks.

Sounds right, there is a purple / YELLOW wire that will disarm the factory alarm when you send it a ground signal. There should be a wire comming out of the alarm that you just installed, for factory alarm disarm. That wire sends out a negative pulse when the doors unlock (or before it remote starts if you have that too). Find the purple / YELLOW, set off the factory alarm, and if you have a test light, probe the wire, and it should disarm.

good luck

Thanks, I'll try grounding it when I set it off, I'll let you know.  Thanks again.

You don't "try grounding it."

First use your meter or test light to verify that it produces a ground when the key is turned to the unlock position in the driver's door.

Then hook up your aftermarket alarm's factory disarm wire.
