remote starter help

i read this in another post. sounds like what i am looking for, just a little confused about the last part:

Alright here goes my version.  To make a saftey circuit for a manual remote start you need two relays.  First of all you need to run a wire from your e brake switch(wire) The wire that goes to ground to turn on your e brake light on your dash.  Run this wire to the first relay to pin 85.  next you need to locate the clutch saftey switch wires.(usually mounted to the clutch itself) there should be two wires,on the same relay put one of the wires (from the clutch switch)on pin 87 and the other on pin 30.  Now run a short jumper from pin 86 on that relay to the other relays pin 30.  Now on pin 85 of the second relay run a wire straight  to ground.  Pin 87 of second relay run a wire with 12 volts on it all the time(it wont have much current on it)  Finally take the 3rd channel from your alarm or whatever you are using to activate your remote start and take it to pin 86 then jump it to your remote starter.  Your remote starter will now only activate if your e brake is on  and if it is the relays will automaticly trick your car into thinking that the clutch is pushed in.  YOU MUST MAKE SURE THE CAR IS IN NUTRAL!  That is my version attemp this install at your own risk.  I am not resposible for any mishaps.  Cool?  Good luck.  BrianH

also instead of two relays could i not just cross the clutch wires, and use one relay to cut the ignition power when the ebrake is not up?  if so how would i wire that?

u might want to invest in a car starter for a car with a standard transmission. By doing this, if u accidently leave it in gear, u might blow right through the back of ur garage by trying this. buth, here ya go anyway!

(I think you can do it in one relay - PAY ATTENTION TO ASSUMPTIONS MADE IN DIAGRAM, AND ADJUST IF YOUR CAR DOES NOT FIT THOSE PARAMETERS)

thanks, but your diagram doesn't really make sense to me =)  could you explain it more? i dont think its really what i need.  i just need something to to cut the starter power to the car when the e-brake is up.

yesterday i had the remote start working great except i didn't have the clutch bypassed. today i was working on in to bypass the clutch and not the remote wont even crank the car... i just here a relay click on, then off? any ideas on what might be the prob? i tried to check all the grounds and wires, everything "seems" fine? man... any help would be great.

um i think what you want is for the starter to only work when the e-brake is up.  (by-bass the clutch-pedal-lockout)

since most (i think) e-brake switches are negative trigger (the wire is grounded when brake is engaged), supply constant (fused) 12v supply to one end of the COIL on the relay, and the other to the e-brake wire. when the wire goes to ground (when e-brake engaged), your relay will flip.

most (again i think most - u'll hafta check with multimeter) clutch pedals are neg. trigger as well. that means that when the clutch is depressed it sends a ground signal to a starter relay relay.  so, hook the NO pin (pin furthest from the common pin) to that wire.

now, when the relay is flipped (when parking brake is on) it sends the starter relay a neg signal (since that wire is now grounded through the relay you just installed) and the starter will work.

now just having problems with my car cranking. it stopped cranking after i tried to install the bypass. i had it hooked up backwards first. it was weird. but then i hooked it up right and the car won't crank with the remote now? it was b4... but now i'm its now... really weird.

nothing really. it was working, when i held the clutch in myself.  then today i went to do the clutch bypass, and i hooked it up wrong.  basically i had the relay hooked up and had 12v+ running to the clutch. just for a second. the car tryied to start, thats when i realized the setup was wrong. so i fixed it. but now the remote start wont get the car to crank. just makes a clicking sound. even if i take the bypass out and just connect the 2 clutch wires together. the remote wont start it. but i can use the key and it starts without the remote. could i have blown the brain unit? i checked all wires for the remote starter and they are all powered correctly.
