I have a Clifford (old) alarm on a 94 civic w/ aftermarket door locks. Now the door locks don’t lock when I arm / disarm or turn ignition on / off. In addition, I noticed the daytime driving lights’ fuse 20amp fuse was blown – I replaced this and it blew again but noticed that the door locks *kinda* activated a bit before the new fuse blew but didn’t (they made a brief noise as though they were gonna lock).

A shop said the problem may be that there may be a kink in the wire / a short in the system. The shop is busy till next weekend… so I was wondering whether there was anything I can look out for / check… I’m good w/ car stereo installs etc but never worked on alarms.

Thnx

Well I use a computer safe test probe, find the actuator wires disconnect them from the relays, test all wires if there is a ground present you have a short.Replace act wire with new wire(speaker wire) Make sure 12v+ is fused (5 amp per act.)to the 12g.White at ignition harness

Check to see that the wire running to the door lock actuatorrs are not pinched, broken or ripped apart. Over time if the wires are not in the boot of the door, this will happen and it will cause problems.
