Have a couple of questions regarding Hornet 554t alarm system.

1.  I purchased the upgraded antenna (XHT ) and it dosent seem to fit into the socket for the old antenna is there a way to get it to fit or an adapter i could purchase.

2.  I would like to know if it is ok to connect 2 piezo sirens to my alarm.

3.  Is there anywhere i could get wiring specs on my 2003 Toyota 4 runner.

Thanks for any and all help.

1. i prefer leaving the stock antenna, i believe the unit already have a good range as it is.
2. hook up the 2 sirens in parallel on my car w/o a relay, it works fine. you can be more techical and use a relay to properly power up the siren.
3. link for diagram

any particular wires you're looking for>?

If an instant trigger(nondelay -) is needed I know of one that catches rear hatch and all four doors. It's purple / YELLOW and it's in the uppermost of three relays exiting a module located to the left of the steering wheel. The molex's are exiting right and towards the column and can be reached without disassembling the dash. The green unlock wire mentioned earlier requires a double pulse if you want all doors to unlock. The first pulse unlocks only the driver door. And piezo's generally require very little current but adding a relay to boost that certainly would take very little time and is generally condsidered to be more reliable. (but I would try running both of the same output first anyway)

Thanks for the info guys.  i already have the new antenna should i just get rid of it.  Is there no benefit to hooking it up?

The guy that installed my alarm also told me that he did not know how to connect my hornet 554t alarm to roll my window down.  I see that in the link above there is a way to do this is it possible for me to do it with a little help.posted_image

Thanks for the info but i might not have been specific enough with my question.

I have a 2003 toyota 4 runner and the and the back window rolls down with one touch of the factory remote.

I wanted to try and connect my alarm to do the same thing the factory alarm does.  I also wanted to find out if there was any benefit to connceting the above new antenna.

Have you already read the link that profuse provided? I spent a lot of time writing that article, and I explain there how to do window rolldown off your aftermarket remote.

I'm not a DEI dealer, so I don't know a whole lot about the antenna. But I'm told that the Viper two-way unit uses a completely different (and better) way of communicating than the Hornet does; that's the major difference between the two of them. The Viper communicates on FM, the Hornet on AM.

You should probably contact someone from DEI, but my guess is that you bought a Viper antenna, and it is probably incomapitible with your Hornet.
