I have the '03 Elantra GT with factory alarm. I'm trying to determine if there is a wire I can connect a blinking LED to to indicate the alarm is on.

If I wanted to add something like a paging device, do I connect the it to the same alarm output as the siren?

And likewise, if I wanted to add additional triggers such as a shock sensor, do I also connect it with an existing input?

ok lets see

first apparently your using the factory remotes to lock and unlock the car. so
you either have a true factory alarm where there is no siren just horn. or you have a after market alarm installed by the dealer you purchased your car from. these systems are usually audiovox 9232s since your using your factory hyundai remote to lock and unlock your car. if you dont see an led or here a siren beep than you just have a factory alarm which has no shock sensor and only goes off when the doors and trunk go off and possible the hood. thats is similar to a after market alarm except the after market alarm has things like shock sensor led. starter kill and so on so if you have a factory straight alarm that your better off getting and aftermarket alarm installed cause it is somewhat not worth the hassle to try to tie into the factory installed alarm.

You would need to upgrade your entire alarm system and not use the fatory system anymore. Look into the Prestige APS-996, very easy to install and use.

You would need to upgrade your entire alarm system and not use the fatory system anymore. Look into the Prestige APS-996, very easy to install and use. Only problem with those cars is adding an actuator in the drivers door for the car to retain the power locks.

This is how you would test this:
Go to the passenger door and lock the car, if all doors lock then you are fine. If only the pass. door locks, then you would need to add an actuator to keep the power locks working with another alarm system.

Wow, quick responses.

Actually, my factory alarm does come with a siren, albeit not that loud or scary. It does not use the horn.

I really did not want to spend much cash on a whole new system/installation. Was hoping to add parts little by little as I could afford to and felt like.

Any comments on wiring the blinking LED to hot wire when the alarm is on? Or should I just get one of those fake alarm LEDs?
