I have a DEI 553T hornet remote start alarm, and a starter kill relay, Im installing in my 97 accord. My question is, do i wire the relay before or after the remote start wires from the cpu? Also, 86 goes to 12V, 85 to ground when armed, 30 to ignition switch of starter wire, and 87a to motor side of starter wire right? Thanks in advance...

you got it, and purple from the dei unit will go to 87a motor side of starter wire.

The relay configuration you have above.... I don't think that it is right. Hook up a relay like this otherwise if you hook up the relay like you have the starter will stay engaged the second you arm the system. :

  • 86: Switched 12 volts from Ignition #1
  • 87: NOT USED
  • 85: Starter disable wire form alarm ( PURPLE I believe is the color )
  • 30: Motor side of the Starter wire ( BLACK/ WHITE )
  • 87a: Keyside of starter wire ( BLACK/ WHITE )

OK, so do I put the starter kill relay on the switch side, or the remote start wire from the alarm closer to the switch? In other words, when I activate the remote start, does the starter kill get disabled if the alarm is still armed?

If you wire it up like the above diagram, the starter disable will only activate when the system is armed or tripped. When the remote starter is activated , the module temporarily releases the starter disable relay to activate the start sequence of the car. After you arm the vehicle again the relay will be activated again.
