I just purchased the Autopage RS-750LCD to install in my 1996 Chrysler LHS. I've pulled the car's diagram from this site **which is GREAT! ** and wonder if this is really a "do it yourself" type of job. I'm pretty handy with the car wiring and have done simple stereo installations in the past (including this car). I have a local installer (Kansas City area) who's offered to do this installation for $125.
My questions are:
Is this alarm overly complicated or would the installation in this vehicle be something I can do on my own?
Are there any experienced folks who have done the same alarm in similar cars who might offer some preliminary advise?
Is $125 a reasonable price for a professional, out of shop installation? Are there others in this area who'd do if for less?

In the vehicle info section if says nothing about what needed to defeat OEM starter kill (if there is one). You may or maynot need a module. You'll have to check on that.
3 IGN wires. The 750 has 1 onboard relay so you'll need to wire in 2 extra relays. (Make sure to use all 3 ign's).
Pre-tape and setup the harness prior to install. For example pre-wire in the 3 relays (ign 2/3 & starter kill) on the harness before the install. Tape grouped wires together according to where they are on the car. Example all the IGNs, starter, constant (unless running to battery), starter kill can all be bundled together and taped.
The door and trunk trigger and parking lights all go to kick panel so they should be taped together. The door locks are behind the fuse panel and might be taped some of the way along the parking lights bundle.
Do the trunk pop now cause it's easier then going back. If not at least run the trunk release wire part of the way and tape it to some wiring in the car so t can be accessed without going under the dash in the future. If you plan on running a window unit then route it towards the door instead.
Pre taping the wires and looping up and wrapping up the wires you do not intend to use really saves time.
Use the tach input on the alrm. Bundle it with the brake switch wire. I have install this unit with vltage check it didnt preform well (as stated here many times).

Although the idea of installing a remote start seems a daunting task, it's pretty straight forward. In all actuality it's only 7 or so more wires than an alarm install. With that being said, the shear headache and time consumed (that MIGHT be experienced)by installing a remote start is enough to make many people pay a professional to do it. I personally think $125.00 is a good price. I normally charge $125.00 for no fuel bypass, no clutch; $150.00 with fuel bypass, no clutch; $200.00 & up fuel bypass and clutch bypass. The flip side to this, is that installers usu can't offer a warranty on an item you "carry-in"(unless maybe they're a dealer for the alarm you have, but they should offer a labor warranty). My advice is to do what you feel most comforatble with. Read the install manual for the r\s a couple of times and compare it to the veh wire color info, and then decide if this is what you want to do. I will say this. . . If someone brings me an alarm that they have already tried to install and it didn't work the price goes up.
