i put a designtech remote start on my dads 1996 gmc suburban. everything works the way it should, but the truck wont shift out of first gear. i am stumped!!!

You forgot to power up your 2nd IGN wire ( WHITE ). You also might have the infamous PINK/WHITE wire as well that you will have to power up. You will have to use a relay to power up these wires unless the RS has a designated 2nd IGN output that is (+)

You'll want to use the blue ignition output (+) from the remote start for your ignition 1 (pink in car) and the green ignition 2 (+) output from the remote start for your ignition 2 (white in car). Hopefully that works out for you.
