Ok I just bought a 12volt electric siren for my car alarm. I wanted to connect it with the Rattler 250 alarm that I have, to make the alarm sound more unique. Problem is I cant figure out the wiring. I tried wiring the ground of the new siren to the car chassis and the hot lead to the hot lead of the rattlers siren. This seems to disable both sirens. Is there a simple way I can make them both go off when the allarm is set off?

I would suggest using a relay to accomplish this. Hook up the relay like this, assuming that your alarm's output to the siren is a positive signal:

85 = ground
86 = Connect to the alarm's (+) siren output
30 = 12v+
87 = to new siren's (+) wire
87a = not used

This way, when the alarm trips, it will send out a (+) pulse, which will go to 86 on the relay, which will activate the relay, and will send 12v+ to the positive wire on the new siren. Don't forget to ground out the other wire on the new siren as well.

Thanks!! Im really hapy to see that there is a place to get these answers online!!!

The Alarm Siren has positive and a negative wires going to it.

Also if I wanted to add a pulsing to the new siren (so that it will wind up as it gets power and down as the power is cut so as to produce that fire engine sound, giving constant power to the new electric siren causes it to just spin and spin so its more of a WHOOOOOOOOOOOOO, than the prefered WOO-O-O-o--o, WOO-O-O-o--o, WOO-O-O-o--o.)

IS this a special relay? or a different wiring for one. From my hanging out at the local Alarm shop days, I seem to remember the term wig-wag used in referance to something that flashes or pulses.

Well, I added my car's horn to the alarm (along with my siren). I added a 12v flasher (can be bought from stores like AutoZone, Strauss Auto....any auto store), and you just put it inline with the power going to the horn (or siren). I don't think you'll accomplish what you're going for, though, with a flasher. I think it's just going to make it WHOOOO WHOOOO WHOOOO, rather than WHOOooo WHOOooo WHOOoooposted_image, because my horn just goes HONK HONK HONK. E I E I o :-)
