Hello everyone! I am interested in getting a remote starter for my 2003 Ford Ranger FX4. I was wondering if someone could give suggestions on what starter to buy ( I want keyless on same remote ) and rate the difficulty in installing. I did a search for a wiring diagram or similar for an 03 Ranger and didn't find anything.

I really appreciate any and all advice!

Thanks!

The information for the 2 door Ranger and 4 door Ranger seems to be the same except some variations on the door trigger's . Are you interested in a 2 way remote starter or just a normal remote starter with keyless ?

While on the topic of 2003 Rangers, has DEI or someone come out with a keyless bypass that works on our trucks yet?

There is a post about wiring here where I asked months ago:

I think the new 555P from DEI will work on them but I am not 100% sure

What is a 2 way starter? I'm not sure if I want that. I know I want a remote starter that also has keyless on it as well so I don't have to carry around two remotes.

Thanks for the replies!

A 2 way starter system is just like the two way communication alarm/remote start combo units, but only has the RS portion of it, but has the range of an FM two way combo system. This is great for people who don't want the alarm system or has no need for an alarm system and just wants a remote starter system with good range.

Whitey, the 555P is replacing the 555F. It won't work on the newer Rangers. Trilogic (www.bypasskit.com) announced a bypass module that will be available in "Fall 2003" for the newer Ranger, Taurus, Expedition.

I was not 100% sure on that.  The 555P that I seen had a listing for the 2001 + sport track witch uses the same pats3 system so I am guesing that it will work with the ranger as well.

Right now I am using a bypass called a pats wedge from automobility here in Canada and they seem to be working good.

I was using the 555U for awhile but found when it really cold up herethey don't like to transmit.
