Howdy,

Just had the integrated Ford remote start system installed in our 03 Explorer Sport.The dealership had an outfit come out of state to do the install. When we arrived to pick it up and ask how it worked...there wasn't anyone available who knew the specifics of the product. We were told to "read the book".

What I'm trying to find out is:

With the original fob, we were able to click on the unlock once to open only the passenger doorlock...then twice to open the rest of the locks. With the new Ford Powercode technology unit...all the doors open on the first click of the button. (This also now happens the same way with the original fobs). Is there a way of programming the unit so that it will revert back to the opening only the passenger doorlock on the first click of the fob?

Why the original fobs are unlocking all the doors at once, I have no idea. Maybe the car's owner's manual will list some type of preference settings.

The remote starter is made by Code-Alarm; I've installed one of them before. It is just like installing any other aftermarket remote starter.

Some add-on units like this can be wired to perform two-step unlocking; some can't. I'm not sure if the one you have can or not. In any event, even if it does, it requires an additional relay and more labor time.

with that particular starter you can not get driver priority door locks. I bet they didnt bypass sleepys locks either, most people dont even know you have it, what it is, if you lock you door manually, and someone breaks the window and pushes the unlcok button the door wont open, to check try these 2 things, when u get out of the car, lock the door w/ the button on the door and not the remote, then shut the door, then try to unlock the car w/ you remote starter remote, if it doesnt unlock then u have sleepy locks and you need to take it back and complain..... another way to test this is, when u get out of the car, lock the system w/ your factory remote, then try to unlock with you remote starter remote.

Are you sure that the first push opened the PASSENGER door and not the DRIVER door? Driver door priority is a common feature but I've never heard of it opening the passenger door first..Only asking because I saw you said it did the passenger doorlock two times..Either way I don't see any reason why your factory fobs shouldn't work the same way they used to. If you want your new Ford Remote start fobs to work this way of course the company who installed it should be able to hook it up. Many companies will charge extra for driver door priority which is most likely why you didn't get it.

The Ford remote start they had installed does have the ability to do driver door priority. It also doesn't require an additional relay as it is built into the unit. (+, -, 5 wi, all built in for DDP) Just FYI..

Anyway if you are not happy remember you had a Ford unit put in that comes with the ford warranty so regardless take it back until it is done right! Good luck

I did mean to say the driver side door would open on the first push of the fob button and the rest of thedoors would open on the 2nd click. Sorry for theconfusion.

Perhaps there is an additional charge for the driverside priority feature...but no one at the dealer evermentioned it. (In all fairness, I never asked...I justassumed it would work as it originally did) I'll ask the dealer now that I have some more info on it.

i work at a ford dealer and unfortunately we charge extra for everything! on the power-code driver door priority is extra charge, but is easy. you do not even need a relay. As far as sleepy locks go... you have to wait 30 seconds after you lock them using lxj's method for them to become sleepy
