Guys, i need help, i have a 94 mustang, installing an avital 2200 alarm, everythings hooked up but the only way i can get the thing to arm is by disconecting the negative battery cable then reconnecting it. Once i do that the car is armed and all the featers work. Press the unlock/disarm button and it does just that. But that the last thing that will work. Thing won't lock or arm when i press the lock/arm button. Checked the door lock wires a billion times. (I know its the 5 wire setup) Could i be hooked up to the wrong ignition wire?

Maybe try testing the "arm" output of the alarm. Maybe it's not working. Try putting that wire to ground, and see if it works, or test the output with a DMM. ------------- Q: What's the best nation in the world?

OK, tested all the wires, heres the deal. Everything seems right EXCEPT..the two wires (green and blue) that supply ground to my door lock relays don't seem to do anything when i press the button. The relays work fine. If i connect the 86 tab to ground the doors unlock and if i connect the 85 tab on the other relay to ground the doors lock.
Does it seem like the "Brain" is damaged?
Why would it unlock and disarm right after i reconnect the power but not otherwise?
Why won't it arm? Thats delt with intirely in the "Brain" correct?

Look, i just got the brain replaced under warrenty but still have the same problem.
The yellow wire connects to the ignition wire showing 12 volts in run and start. I checked all my wires going to the ignition switch. Is it okay if the wire i connected to shows 12 volts all the time? I can't find one that only shows in run and start.

If it is showing +12 at all times then you have the wrong wire, and that is why your alarm will not arm. Have you tried looking for the ignition wire in the ignition harness?

The ignition harness is the harness that goes to the switch. The wire you are looking for is tan/white

Oh okay, i was under the impression that i needed a yellow wire. I know where that tan/white one is. I hope this works. THanks.

The wires on the alarm will usually not match the vehicles wiring. If you need any other wiring info then here is a link for Your Car------------- Certified Security Specialist
