Just wondering if anyone has ever done any of these.  I will be installing a Remote Starter on this car and would like to know what in the world the door lock and unlock pulses are???  Different web sites and different installers have said it different.  I have not dropped the dash on the car yes as I will not do it untill tomorrow, but can anyone tell me what wire is for lock & unlock and what kind of puls they are.  This is a 2001 Hyundai Elantra that has a factory alarm ( well you know just the open door and truck business alarm) and has motors already in all doors for locking and unlocking from factory.  Any help appreciated.

BLACK/ brown in the drivers kick

on a SPDT relay:

cut the BLACK/ brown, put one end into 87a, and the other in to 30

connect the unlock (-) from your alarm to 87a, also

connect Lock (-) from you alarm to 85.

fused constant 12 +volts to 86.

a negative pulse on the BLACK/ brown will unlock the doors, and opening the wire will lock the doors.

We actually just did an Elantra at my shop a couple of hours ago. Derek's relay setup is 100% correct, but I found the wire to be yellow.

In any case, the wire will test as a ground with the doors unlocked, and will be dead when they are locked.

The way the system works is that if you give the wire a ground, the doors unlock. If you cut the wire in half, the doors lock. The relay is used to "cut" the wire whenever you press lock on your remote.

Also, some Elantras have all four power locks, others have only three....you'll have to test.

-Move the driver's doorlock with your finger; you'll see that the other three doors follow.

-Now go and move the passenger's doorlock with your finger; what happens? Do all the other doors, including the driver's, do the same thing you are doing with your finger?

If all the doors operate, off of either of the front levers, the car has four power locks and you just need that relay. (Also, if you have factory keyless, this means you have four power locks for sure.)

If the locks only operate off the driver's door, but NOT off the passenger's, the car only has three power locks. You'll unfortunately need to purchase another actuator and install it in the driver's door...not a lot of fun.

This car has all four factory actuators, and I already put the remote starter in it just did not hook up the door locks.  Had somebody tell me five wire, but there is only one wire.  I see what you guys are saying.  Will give that a shot.  Preciate it.  Also as soon as I cut the wire can I leave it cut as long as I am intalling the door, in other words if I cut the wire will the door locks keep locking untill I connect those two wires and if you can tell me the location for that wire!

If you cut the wire they will just lock once, and then you can take your time finishing the job, and you won't damage anything. Don't forget to open a window, so you won't get locked out.

On the one I did yesterday, there were a few plugs in the driver's kick panel. It was in the plug that is positioned up-and-down, toward the front of the car.

So just set up your tester to test for ground. The appopriate wire should test as a ground, and then when you lock the doors, the ground should disappear.
