Hey guys, I bought an Amenity 3300 (https://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/dll?ViewItem&category=33721&item=2437053602 (not the exact one, but same model)) a while back and had it installed in my 95 Grand Am Se Coupe (2 door, power) at a local garage. It worked fine for about a week, but all of a sudden, the keyless entry part of it stopped working. The lock and unlock buttons on the doors worked properly, but the keyless entry system wouldn't lock or unlock the doors. We called up the tech-support, and they said that some extra relays were needed. So, I got some of them, and a whole new 3300 (because they thought that may be the problem too) and had it installed, correctly. Well, it still doesn't work. Everything else does (remote start, alarm) but the doors won't lock and unlock through the FOB. So, I guess my question to you guys is.. have you ever heard of this before? The car has a thing where when the transmission (auto) is put into gear, the doors lock. I think they call it automatic doors or something. The mechanic thought it may have something to do with that. Has anyone had or heard of a problem like this.. or have any suggestions? Thanks a lot, Matthew

According to the ebay ad, it says ur alarm has built in door lock relays, so set it up per what the installation manual that came with the alarm says to do...in your car u have positive locks, so set it up for positive...your problem could be that whoever installed it, used the wrong wires for lock/unlock outputs going to external relays when u don't even need external relays, read the install manual...usually it goes something like this, the 2 wires on the door lock harness that are the (-) outputs go to the vehicles (+) lock/unlock wires, then 2 other wires on the alarm's door lock harness get 12V and 1 or 2 wires on the harness aren't used...but u gotta read the manual to see which is which...Also your alarm could have (-) and (+) door lock outputs and if so, whichever wire is the (-) lock output coming from the alarm it also doubles as the (+) unlock output so if that's the case you can just take that wire and go straight to the vehicles (+) unlock wire, and then do the same for lock, take alarm's (-) unlock output and that will be the (+) lock output, connect that to vehicles (+) lock wire, got me?
If u know for a fact ur alarm does not have built in door lock relays nor (-)/(+) lock wires and only has (-) lock/unlock outputs, grab 2 relays and set em up like this:
Relay # 1
87 and 85 get 12V fused @ 10amps
86 goes to alarm's (-) lock wire
30 goes to vehicle's (+) lock wire
87a not used
Relay # 2
87 and 85 get 12V fused @ 10amps
86 goes to alarm's (-) unlock wire
30 goes to vehicle's (+) unlock wire
87a not used

Thats wierd, my brother in law has a 95 coupe and he has a starter put in and I dint think he had the locks hooked up though, and one day his switches stopped working so i thouht I would take a closer look and I ended up just installing a new starter with keyless entry. The switches still dont work, but his keyless does. I would be interested in seeing if it stops working. Did you say that the keyless worked for a little bit the second time he installed it? or did he have no luck getting them to work right away during the second install?
Make sure that he is grabbing the right wires too. Test the wires on the vehicle and then test the outputs from the alarm to make sure they are sending the right signal. I think on those units one wire is for (-)Lock and (+) unlock and the other is for (+) lock and (-) unlock.

Thanks guys. The second time it was installed (with new everything) it didn't work at all (keyless lock & unlock). So it was only the first install that worked about a week. Currently I have the second install in, and everything works as well, save the keyless door locks. What I just don't get is that it did work for a while, but then stopped. It didn't seem to affect the car at all (everything factory still works), and the totally new keyless entry system should have fixed any problems that were with the first one. That is so weird. Oh yeah, I talked to the mechanic, and he said he tested the wires coming from the 3300 to the door locks, and it is sending the wrong signal. So I guess somehow, the 3300 is recieving or interperting something wrong. I wish I knew more about this stuff.. Matthew

I checked on ur alarm, and it in fact has what I mentioned, 1 wire that is (-) lock as well as (+) unlock and 1 wire that is (-) unlock as well as (+) lock...
So the guy who installed it has the wires exactly backwards, tell him to switch them, take the wire he has coming from the alarm that he thought was for lock and connect it to the vehicles unlock wire and take the wire from the alarm that he thought was unlock and connect it to the vehicles lock wire, problem solved.

It sure is weird though that it worked for a while. That makes me think he must have had them right in the first place. If they were reversed though the only problem would be that the lock button would actually unlock. The fact that it stopped working is a little confustigating.

Yeah, that is what I don't get. I am trying to call the mechanic right now to ask him if he knew about the weird wiring.

J Rilla, he did have it right the 1st time, that's why it worked for a week, then whatever happened (crimps came off or something) it stopped working, this time, he got it backwards, once he gets it right and secures the wiring, it should work.

Well, I called the mechanic this evening, and he said he already knew about that weird wiring. He said he paid attention to that, and made sure he did it correctly. I guess he is going to talk to a guy who installs these sorts of things for GM vehicles to see if this is something vehicle specific. I appreciate all the help you guys have provided so far. Well, I guess all that didn't matter anyhow. Yesterday I was in an accident and the Grand Am was totaled. So, the keyless entry is the least of my worries right now. Thanks for all your help, it was greatly appreciated. Matthew
